Cake for Breakfast

It’s October, which means it’s time to watch Practical Magic. I adore this film that’s about the power of sisterhood as much as it is a nod to all the witchy things. It inspired the recipe I’m sharing with you this month because I always wanted a house where we have chocolate cake for breakfast…but mine won’t leave you feeling sick afterwards.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, mashed
  • 1/4 cup milk of choice (I use organic unsweetened soy milk)
  • 1/3 cup oat flour
  • 1/2 scoop protein powder (I love Truvani in either vanilla or chocolate peanut butter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Combine all the ingredients in a large mug. Microwave for 90 seconds, adding another 15-30 seconds if not fully cooked. Enjoy!

Note: I’ve been smearing a thin layer of the insanely delicious rose petal jam from the Raffles hotel in Singapore (yes, I did have them give me some of their proprietary jam before heading to the airport). If you don’t happen to have rose petal jam from the Raffles hotel in Singapore, then might I suggest some chocolate chips sprinkled on top while the cake is still hot so they get nice and melty? Or a scoop of coconut yogurt, a sprinkle of cinnamon, some midnight margaritas…really the options are endless.
